An introduction to the ONE Project. My latest personal project: a study of people and their sentimental items.

The ONE Project

Larry Lourcey

Hi and welcome to my blog!I do my best
to keep things updated and give you a look at things happening behind the scenes here at Lourcey Photography. Although I've been a professional photographer for over 20 years, I'm also semi-famous for my pizza and bread making. So follow along and enjoy the adventure. And don't be afraid to leave a comment and say hello!

Welcome to the ONE Project!

The ONE Project is a personal photographic project I am pursuing this year to push my creativity and tell some great stories. The concept is simple- subjects are photographed with the ONE item they have that has the most sentimental value. We aren't talking about kids or pets - only objects. Think of it this way... you arrive home and your house is on fire. You only have time to run in and grab one item - what do you grab.

Over the coming months, I will share the portraits with everyone and tell the stories behind the images. If you would like to be a part of the project, you can find out more details here: PROJECT DETAILS

I decided to try something slightly different last week. I had seen some folks online doing H...

Every year, I teach a darkroom class to 8th graders at The Westwood School in Dallas. Although it is truly a dying art, I think there is still a lot to be learned from the whole development process. You have to work to get a nice image and can’t just shoot 1000 shots and hope to get a good one.  Whi...
