Melanie's item was her grandmother's ring. Here's what she told me about the ring:

"It was my grandmother's engagement ring from 1948! She was one of the most important people in my life. She actually picked up my sister and I every day from Westwood and we spent most of our childhood with her. When she passed last year, that ring was left to me and is the most treasured item I have."
