"The Painted Bunny"
For the latest installment in my ONE Project, I have a portrait of the incredible Cris Duncan. Cris is one of the few people who have participated in more than one of my personal projects- so he's kind of a pro at this now.
Cris brought in a painted bunny with a great story to go along with it.
Here's Cris' story:
My grandmother was the biggest influence on me as an artist. She was a china and oil painter and accomplished instructor as well. Her home studio was a heaven for me as a young child. Full of color, canvas and opportunities.
She never told me what to paint or draw or even how it should look. She told me it was okay to color outside the lines and draw what I saw or what I was thinking. To be true to myself and not to create based on someone else’s expectations.
This bunny, my nickname is Thumper, by the way, is a piece that I painted with her at age 6 or so. It reminds me of her craft, guidance, love and unconditional support. She taught me to be myself, follow my heart and it’s okay to be off. You can always paint over it. If I still had my “dukes of hazard” coloring book that would be featured, (another great story. )
