We had our regional photography convention this weekend in Arlington. It was great to see so many of my photographer friends all in one place. One of the prints I entered in the competition was an image I created this summer. I called it “Riding the Wind.”
Our family spent a week at the Outer Banks in North Carolina. There is a national park in Kitty Hawk that is covered in giant sand dunes. I thought it would be great to try and use those in an image, so Heather and I dragged Dean out of bed before dawn and we trekked out to the middle of the dunes. We brought a kite along and had Dean run along the top of one of the dunes. It was a grueling morning, but we came away with some great images. I added some color and a little texture to the image, then printed it out on watercolor paper. I loved the timeless feel of the image.
