Bringing Things Up To Speed

I’ve been away for the past week and have fallen behind on the blog – so I thought I’d take a few minutes to bring it up to speed.

I just got back from spending some time in St. Francisville, Louisiana. I attended a painting workshop with a couple of very talented artists- Darrell Chitty and Jeremy Sutton.

It was a great learning experience and I think it really brought my painting skills to a whole new level.

I stayed at a couple of very cool plantations while I was there. This one was located about a mile off the road – literally in the middle of nowhere. Its about as “getting away from it all” as you can get.

I managed to get one of my 4040 Portraits done there also. I set the camera on the nightstand and took a photograph in the room – sitting in an antique chair. I used a painting technique I learned to give it a dark, moody feel. Here is what I came up with…
